At RFH

Ben and Thomas

At RFH, we bring stories to life — carved in light and stone. Each Spire Pendant begins deep in the Earth, where crystals form over millions of years. Inclusions, fractures, and color shifts mark the passage of time, making every piece a singular expression of nature. We source our crystals from major deposits around the world — like moss agate from India or amethyst from Brazil — and design and assemble every pendant by hand in DeLand, Florida. Each piece is built in small batches using real crystals, polished steel, and custom light components. Spire is our first release — with more designs to come.

TL;DR done. Now for the real story ↓

the aha moment

It started with an ordinary phone flashlight and a pile of raw crystals. Ben — founder and inventor of the Spire Pendant — aimed the light through a stone and watched inclusions erupt into tiny constellations. The thought was simple: nobody needs this — but this has to exist.

That spark led to nights of sketches, tests, and a promise to reveal the hidden beauty inside real stone.

The first direction was The Orb Pendant: a rechargeable illuminated sphere with a tiny PCB and optics. Ben’s mentor Chris called it a “heavily machined rock,” and Ben agreed it looked a bit like a… vibrator. Not quite wearable.

The Orb Project was scrapped (it may return later in a simpler form) and pivoted to something slimmer and timeless — a spire.

The concept

The Spire Pendant emerged: real crystal, polished steel, and a tuned light. Early prototypes had issues (fitment, light path), but each revision got cleaner until it clicked. Twist to turn on. Twist to turn off. Simple.

Twist off

As launch neared, life cracked open — a breakup, doubt, and a long pause that stalled and almost shelved RFH.

“About 2 months before I planned to launch RFH I got broken up with by my partner... I loved them so much, but I didn’t love myself… I began to lose my grip on purpose.”

In that quiet, Ben realized something simple and hard: desires come and go; we meet them, lose them, meet them again. The ebb and flow is certain — certainty is not. That truth would later shape how RFH tells its story.

Thomas at Bonnaroo with Spire

Thomas joined mid‑May 2025, bringing fresh ideas, grit, and hands‑on support. The iconic duo became friends over pickleball, Thomas thought the Spire was cool, eased in, and pretty quickly adopted the project as his own — helping accelerate the pace with energy and commitment.

They pointed the car toward Bonnaroo 2025 to make an early debut — show people, gather feedback, shoot content. It was chaos: last‑minute tickets, a night in a parking lot, and then a festival‑wide cancellation right as they stepped out with pendants. They still found a way to share the story and apparently (according to thomas) Ben mistakenly traded a few Spire Pendants for beer — Thomas swears it happened; Ben doesn’t recall. They drove home bittersweet but motivated. The grind continued.

Twist on

Pace picked up and they got Spire to market — built in small‑batches, letting crystal and light do the talking.

As Ben puts it, once you see life as it is — including the parts you don’t want to see — you may find this part of you deep inside that notices beauty within the chaos.

“As long as I keep this light on — and as long as I’m aware — I can find that inner part of me… and I hope you do too.”
